Needing help with iTunes 11

I need help with putting songs and books on my iPhone 5 using iTunes 11. I've had trouble syncing in the past. I'd end up losing my music. What do I need to do? There has to be something I'm missing.
BTW, my books are from audible and have been put into my iTunes library.
Thanks so much.

Learn to use iTunes.
I'm not being mean, but serious.
Connect your phone and play with tab shift tab arrows and such things as you'd do wiith any program.
Read the help section about iTunes, and learn the keystrokes.
It is really hard to explain a complete program, and I'm not sure of your skill level.
Make iTunes so it is not your default player as well.

Itunes is pretty clunky in my experience, though it is accessible. I've heard of scripts for JAWS, but have never tried them.

on a mac, Itunes is so much!!!!! better then the windows companion. Seriously, I am by know way an apple fan boy but if you can get your hands on a mac book air or pro, the Itunes is quite injoyable.

Yess, this is true. Itunes eleven is much better on both systems though.

blind tunes is the Scripts for Skype.
I can use it without just fine, but I have Jaws 14 and Windows 7 or 8, so that may be why. I have installed them before but didn't find any benefits.
Yes, if someone is willing to teach you the program that be a way to go, but to post all that here would be difficult when it is already written and just requires you read and try it.

Okay, what are you having trouble with when it comes to Itunes? Second off, you can see what is going on with your device under the device tab in the scrolable list that has music, movies, etc. Navagate to the device tab and tab over to see your IDevice. I could go further but it would make this post quite long. Just go and explore like some have said above me.
